Guided Imagery

Guided imagery is a gentle but powerful technique focusing and directing the imagination involving all the senses; sight, sound, taste, hearing, and feeling. It can be as simple as a 30 second mental rehearsal, or a 30 minute complex image of thousands of immune cells racing through the body to eliminate unsuspecting cancer cells. Almost anyone can do this. The body believes images created by the mind can be almost as real as the actual event. That's why the thought of a lemon being sliced in wedges may make many of us salivate. guided imagery creates a deeply relaxed, tranquil state of mind and body. In this altered state, we are able to heal more quickly and have more intense growth, learning and performance because we by-pass the conscious mind directly entering the subconscious mind. (B. Naparsteck, 2000).
